As a small school what makes us unique is that we encourage participation from every member of the community in many different kinds of activity. We celebrate taking part and trying your best in everything.
At Oakhill we recognise that learning is not just something that happens inside the classroom but also outside of the classroom.
The extra curricular activities and opportunities at Oakhill are outstanding. These range from a vast array of sporting and musical activities to activities such as Gardening Club.
The range of educational visits is equally extensive including the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver awards. From day visits to Helmshore Textile Museum to longer residentials such as outward bound weeks and the school trip to Kenya, educational visits are a central part of the education offered at Oakhill College.
A central part of the extra curricular life of Oakhill is based upon the house system. From Reception onwards pupils are placed in either Scholars or Martyrs House. There are a number of interhouse competitions and traditions which are carried our with great enthusiasm by the pupils and staff. From the weekly winners of the house point competition in the Prep school to the fiercely competitive events of the House Christmas Pantomime, Interhouse sporting events including the annual conkers challenge and a General Knowledge Quiz in the Senior School.
